Hello hello!

You all still want chalet? Right now we have 4 options:

(1) Coasta Sands Downtown East, 26/27 Dec, 2 deluxe rooms
Amount to pay: $278 (non-member)
This was the option we wanted, but only 12 of you replied that you can make it for 26/27 Dec, so that would be $278/12 = $23.1666666667. WHOA. Should we change to a time when more can make it? Not just to spread out the fixed cost of course! :S

That's why there is the second option:

(2) Aranda (Last year's), say 7/8 Jan 2008?
Amount to pay: $230 (non-member)
We get a better place and pay less for it, but will more people be able to make it?? Let me know so that we can book before it's all taken!

(3) We crash someone's house and take it as a chalet?

(4) We are going to be damn sad and have nothing at all.

I don't want option (4)!! Please tell me you don't want to by responding. Sms/tag on board whatever. I'm not nice like dawn and if nobody replies, it's really going to be option (4) okay?? (hopefully threats work?)

the class guys are going to hongkong!!! sounds so fun. I WANT SOUVENIRS!! =)

anyway some of you want class chalet right? going to have some problems though. cause most chalets are fully booked already, unless u people don't mind squeezing in costa sands pasir ris. EVEN aloha changi is fully booked on the days we want to go!!

aranda is pretty booked unless we book it from the 5th to 7th dec (i think there are still some slots then.) but its kinda sian to go immediately after prom. =(

something important here.

Do u all wanna just book directly through the airlines and hotels? instead of through the agencies?

Merit of booking directly:

Cheaper.

Jetstar has this random discount on random days. So if we just check the website everyday, we may be able to book tickets at super cheap prices! Anyway, the normal prices are lower than those of the agencies too.

We also dun nid to hav the optional half day trip thingy which dawn said is quite fei. Can save cost too.

Using POSB Everyday Credit card will hav 5% discount! ANYONE HAS THE CARD?

Demerit of booking directly:

Will nid to collect money and pay at 1 go when booking the air tickets. So cooperation from everyone is very very important!

Hey everyone!

Here's the updates on the Overseas Trip!

1stly, we are going hongkong! (most likely) around 17 hav indicated hongkong in the paper we passed around during our last ct session. Most likely, we will be going at around 4 - 13, 4 days 3 nights during that range of dates

Kk n i have called a few tour agencies and some of the prices for taiwan 4days 3 nights. The december prices are cheaper than what we were quoted earlier! 4D/3N would be around $700 currently.

All these will include all the airport taxes tickets(airlines like china air, jetstar), a disneyland entrance ticket, stay in a 3 star hotel, a half day free tour and breakfast for everyday. 4D3N Hongkong

MORE IMPORTANTLY, the NATAS fair is coming up. It will be on 14 September. The best deals will be there. Can everyone get the money, parents' consent done by around then so that we can get the best deals?!

Currently only jason n yuen mentioned that they are unconfirmed about the dates yet. So i suppose everyone else who indicated on the paper are okay with the dates!

PLS PLS PLS, tell kk and me if u cant make it on the above dates, cant get everything done by 14/9, or hav better suggestions! if not we will just go on with what we know, or end up not having a trip when everything we dunno suddenly pop up.

Here's the latest updates on 06s61 overseas trip 2007!

Some of us hav gone to check up the estimated prices of the trips in december. The december prices will be out in september. There will be some travel fairs during the september period too.

here's the estimated prices:

SingXpress
Hongkong: $600+ Jetstar Asia
Bangkok: $400+ Jetstar Asia

Euro Vacation Pte Ltd
Hongkong: $600+
Taiwan: $528 (without airport tax, which is likely to be $100 or $200)
Bangkok: $437+

Hong Thai Travel
Hongkong: $650+
Taiwan: $700+
Bangkok $400+

All of these are prices for free and easy package, which comprises stay in 3 star hotel, half day tour by a tour guide, breakfast and travel from airport to hotel (and vice versa).

So everyone! if we are going hongkong or taiwan, pls pls pls set aside around $800 as the december prices may hav a large standard deviation. Pls ask ur parents and confirm the dates, prices, everything. We will be booking right after our prelims.

hope everyone has enjoyed yourself during this short break despite the thoughts of Physics Paper 3 looming at the back of your minds! probably did some shopping and watched abit of Wimbledon and Formula 1? thats what i did! =) Kimi won! yay! even though erm i dont really understand motorsports racing. all the vroom vroom stuff. BUT AT LEAST KIMI WON! =)

hello 61! todays class outing was SUCCESSFULLY conducted even though only 7 people went. liting ruihong kaikeat issac zhenwei jason and ME! haha. will put up the photos when i find a way to try and edit it. make it brighter. cause most of the photos were taken at ben n jerrys and erm it was WAY TOO DARK even with flash. anyone wants to enlighten me on how to do it?

anyway, the hwachong concert season is over! haha and i've accumulated quite a few pseudo-class shots at some of the various concerts. so here, for your viewing pleasure...PHOTOSPAAMM!!! (in no particular order)

someone directed me to this photo in "wanzw"s photoblog (thanks!), that's why it looks significantly better than the rest. the one in my camera turned out quite bad so i'm posting this one, haha.

hi 61!

our chalet is coming! =) here are the details in case u forgot/didnt know.

date: 5th to 7th december 2006

venue: Aranda Country Club unit number 2314 60 Pasir Ris Drive 3, Singapore 519497.

buses that go there: 3, 6, 12, 17, 21, 89, 354, 358. if i am not wrong u can take an mrt to pasir ris and take some of the buses as mentioned earlier.

price: $18.40/person if u are going for chalet $10/person if u are not going at all (not inclusive of food). bbq price will determined on the day itself but i promise to cut cost as much as possible! =) i know this might sound very mean, but if u have already said that you would go and you don't turn up, you would still have to pay for the chalet. sorry bout that but money matters quite ma fan eh.

anyway, we would be going to shop for the food on the 5th! meet 2pm at pasir ris mrt to help out in shopping (those who do not know how to go aranda should also take this chance to tag along!). if you are going to be late then please sms someone so we know we have to wait for you! if not, just meet directly at aranda country club clubhouse outside at 3pm!

things to bring: clothes to change,towel, toiletries, MONEY to spend, food and lots of games to play! board games, card games, XBOX/PS2 , balls, frisbees and LOTS MORE. everyone just help chip in and bring something along so that we wouldnt get bored during chalet! poker cards are the bare minimum! and RISK! i want to play RISK!! someone bring please! and you have been warned: the unit there is rather cold (to me) so you might want to bring a jacket before u freeze. oh yes cuz i think there are insufficient beds, so if u dun wanna sleep on the floor u can bring sleeping bags!

if can bring lots of food hor! then we dun have to buy! like cupnoodles, junk food, biscuits etc! =)

and if can bring stuff for bbq like utensils tongs etc that will be good too. just state them in the tagboard! =)

IMPT! if u said u were coming when either joe or dawn (which is me) contacted you and you are not able to come anymore, i will personally take a chopper and chop u up. (just jking!) drop me a msg to inform me yeah! =) so i can count one less person for bbq and buy lesser too. dun waste food. we wouldnt charge you for the bbq then!

hi everyone! the chalet is booked!! if all goes accordingly to plan and everyone is willing to pay, then it would $18.40 per person. don't think we will have a bbq! too troublesome and quite ex! yep! rmb to appear for chalet! its at aranda, which is at 60 Pasir Ris Drive 3, Singapore 519497. can take buses 3, 6,12,17,21,89,354,358. YEP! its very near to pasir ris mrt, so if u feel up to it then u can WALK to aranda. btw if u din know its just next to downtown east, so its really convenient if we need food etc.

our room number is 2314. just in case u guys come late or something. think it would be on the 3rd floor. i cant exactly rmb! if we are lucky we can get the room with the wild wild wet view. lol.

hi 61! just want to confirm again. everyone fine with chalet from the 5th to 7th december right? really need everyone to go so that the chalet can really work!

planning to book at aranda. hope everyone is fine with it. the last time i tried to ask the class abt it no one was exactly listening. if u are not happy with aranda please try to tell me within the next 2 days.

costs:

cost of a chalet if everyone goes: $18.40/pax

cost of a chalet if only 20 pple turn up: $23/pax

cost of a chalet if only 10 pple turn up: $46/pax

the moral of the story? persuade everyone to go!

cost of getting random food (aka instant noodles, water, chips): $5 to $10/pax [it all depends on how much u eat!]

meals everyone just pay for their own meals, unless u pple want to have bbq? bbq will probably come to another $10/pax

yup thats probably all the possible costs we can incur. so yes, express your opinions on the tagboard, via sms/email or just tell me personally if u happen to see me.

Singalella say ok but Ah Ming like octopus, touch here touch there.

But then just it was 12 o'clock, one ah pek die on the dance floor.

He become ghost and tell Singalella all the good 4D number.
So after that Singalella quickly go and buy 4D, and then tiok tau-pio, zhit-pak ban.

So she pay back the kay-piak eh lau-kay-poh and then kah kee cho sen-lee.

Simi kuan eh sen-lee wah mana eh zhai.

Tomorrow will be 4 July 2006, U.S. Independence Day.
It will also be the last day of "holidays" before we return to school.
I propose to have a class outing tomorrow.

wow, my first time blogging on the class blog! thanks to hyperxi i finally recalled my long lost username and password, haha -__-

anyway, the one last good thing i'll do before i scurry off tomorrow is to post some photos to brighten up this otherwise uh photo-void blog.

so it begins that calvin, zhexi and i signed up for lomo art but it was cancelled abruptly so we decided to go for batik painting. it was a pleasant surprise as i found the process to be weirdly therapeutic [sp?], even the smell of wax was mildy appealing. hmm, after having no art classes for 3 years since 2003, the idea of expressing myself thru art [no matter how bad the art turned out to be] once again was really refreshing.

okay enough talk, let's see some of what we did! :)

calvin's piece of san fransisco [crap, sp again]. oops it's upside down. unfortunately blogger doesn't allow me to flip and i'm too lazy to do that. just. imagine :)

the hot pot with MOLTEN wax in it! it's really cool to play with molten wax. everyone should play with it someday.
mr ooi's impression of the beach. pretty neat huh? [ask him who drew it :P]
MY lollipop-frenzy world! calvin said it looked like a snail with a baby-head [?!?!!?!?] okay, i'm thinking, that's just calvin. i'm sure the rest of the world can tell it's someone licking a lollipop :) haha! while everyone else does serious stuff like beautiful landscapes or images of still life...i do something as frothy and frivolous as...sweet round balls. oh gosh.
the too-shy-to-show-their-full-faces artists and their amazing pieces of batik! great isn't it? :)

i've got more photos of even more amazing [hard to believe, but, YES, there were pieces which were more amazing and jaw dropping than ours] batiks which are TOTALLY stunning! like, you totally wont believe these people have been doing batik painting for less than 2 days. hai! life is not fair. this whole arty thing. it's either in you, or it's not [do i sound like heidi klum? hahahaha]

haha hope you all had fun too! batik painting was great :)

oh ya, 2 last things:

1) some remaining stacks of model essays and ISSUES at class bench. GRAB THEM BEFORE THEY GET CLEARED AWAY!!!

1st week :mon to fri 9 to 5pm CO, Sun concert
2nd week : tues wed fri sat sun 9 to 10 (am to pm) external CO
3rd week : tues wed 9 to 10 external CO thurs concert.

in between, theres Service learning, PW and mugging.

hey 06s61!

just to update u guys. think we will be having class outing like after block test instead? cuz this june holidays should be rather hectic for everyone, what with all the mugging and cca sessions etc. so i guess it would be more advisable to have a proper class outing immediately after block test, where everyone would not have to care abt tutorials,tests, ccas etc. especially since we end blocks early. we would be free souls from saturday(1st july) onwards. do check back regularly for updates on it. haha. we can even try to make going for nanyang fun fair a class outing! (kidding.)
oh and i think our class tee.... no hope already. too late. but its ok! if u guys still want it we can get it done another time! =) help kai keat by giving him some ideas on the class tee k?
X-MEN 3. the movie. are you guys still keen to watch it as a class? since 29th and 30th cannot, i would propose we watch it after artemis camp? lets see if we would be too tired by then.

have a fun-filled holidays but must still rmb to mug ABIT.

KOREAN ROCKS!!!! WINDSURFING ROCKS TOO!!! i think i just chose the right sabbaticals. they are so nice. suits me totally. and korean finally i get to learn it! after such a long time. dae jang geum just rocks!!! ahhaha. and learn to read and write and understand. so cool. and get to wear the costume. ahaha i think i look quite weird in it. ahaha. aniwae it is so fun la!!!! and then ya!!! lee young ae is forever the attention of the show. min zheng hao enhances the effect. (follow-up to liting's post) ahaha . yay! liting knows me. ahahah. so sad it is only two days.

and i know five languages (i just realised liting ahah-eng,chi,malay ban tong shui,hokkien,korean) weeee.

and then windsurfing also got this card to certify we completed the level one proficiency level! so cool i finally know another sport as well. just that i dont have the strength to pull the sail up. other than that it is perfectly fine (: and i realised i can sail for like 5 mins! woot. great achievement plus i get a nice tan ( or a nice peeling) maybe can be of the same colour as my fav teacher ahaha rocks. but white is still nicer (right tutu) ahaha. (:

anyways sabbs are quite fun! really enjoyed kayaking cos we got CERTS in the end.
so now we are certified kayak-ers okay! dun play playy.
all the capsizing and rescueing, oh and not to forget getting burnt under the sun.
im finally ~~WHITE~~ BROWN. muahahaha.

had korean lang juz now. was fun too..
cos we watched ah xiang's FAVE da chang jin.
and min zheng hao is so damn shuai. opps. no link.
ok.. changjin also q pretty la(this is juz a fu yan reply to hx's enthusiasm :)))
we watched jin san shun too, and the show was DAMN FUNNY!
and i finally noe how to write hello, byebye and i love u in korean already.
the words are so interesting..
and after this course..i will know 4 languages! woohooo :)

Sabbaticals

ah... we are all blogging about sabbaticals or something? well not that im making good use of my time at home so might as well.

Western Philosophy : boring , boring and more boring. The only question worth thinking about was " what is man". thus we kinda toggled back and forth between the materialist thinking that everything in our lives are mechanical and thus predestined or the idealist thinking that we have free will. its boring cause the lecturer wasn't open minded enough and kept sticking to the second POV. therefore, i slept throughout the rest of it. In the front row, no less. and i conveniently got diarrhoea on tuesday, which was good 'cause wang ye says it was even more boring than the first day .

Archery: archery rocks! or maybe its the relative comparison to philosophy... lol. that , and the fact that its 5 min away from my house. I suppose archery lends ppl that sort of aura. especially when u see the instructors demonstrating. But your hands kinda get sore from all the bow pulling. The only complain is that the bow, instead of a plastic coloured one, should be like wooden with engravings. yeah, im asking too much. This comes from watching too many movies like LOTR and narnia.

Anyway, that's it guys. have fun for the last day of sabbaticals.

hi this is your rather slack social secretary! its the holidays once again and here are some updates/upcoming events.

1) class teeshirt
we are frantically trying to print our class tee before the artemis camp so that we can parade our oh-so-wonderful tee at the mosquito-infested pualu ubin (who knows it might deter mozzies from biting us). so we need people to come up with designs! anyone who has any idea please sketch it out and show it to me asap! especially people like kai keat and wu fan who are from AEP. and for your information class tees usually take between 1 - 2 weeks to print. so the design needs to be out FAST!

2) X-Man 3
X-Man 3 will be showing in cinemas from 25th May. Lets go watch it as a class! =) yes we are booking you guys b4 you arrange to watch X-Man 3 with your cca mates/ex-classmates/friends/family etc. WATCH WITH 61! or you can always watch it again even if you have seen it. The tentative dates to watch X-Man 3 would be 29th or 30th May. so try to keep those dates free. =)))

3) Class outing in June
even though the block test is just around the corner, i think we should still have a class outing in June! anyone has any suggestions plz tell me. =) one possibility is to go huixiang's house for a bbq! will update you guys later on when things are confirmed. yup. so look out for more postings k? and post more on this blog!

Not as long or as self-indulgent as Joe's post, or as detailed as Huixiang's. But it may be more objective. "LU BIAN YI GE RONG SHU XIA!". Ok fine, maybe not.

Friday. Really fun day. Not the lessons, but what happened after the lessons. There was choir as usual, but then I had some free time after lessons. So some of our class was just hanging out at the canteen with Clarence, Dexin, Calvin, Joe and Weilong. The girls were at some other table. We still sit separately sometimes. Why? I think it's the girls that don't want to sit with us, if you ask me. Hm...

Anyway, Joanne needed some people to help her move some things from the harmoc room to LT3. That's when it all started. Untill now I still don't know why all of us volunteered to help. I don't regret it though. One helluva fun time man!

So the whole lot of us, calvin joe weilong clarence, dexin, li-en wangye yiwen liting and I went all the way up to the fourth floor, near the library. Hm... I didn't realise that small little room was the harmoc room. So pathetic. Anyway most of us went into the small little room after joanne opened it for us. I remember feeling a little apprehensive. Claustrophobic? Not really. Maybe I just had a premonition of what was to come!

It was so fun in the harmoc room! We played with all sorts of things- the drum sets, the cymbals, the portable fan. Then Clarence started singing, as usual. "LU BIAN YI GE.... RONG SHU XIA! (路边一个....榕树下!)" After while I decided to join him. "LU BIAN YI GE... RONG SHU XIA!" Then Dexin tried to join in, but he couldn't really sing in that kind of voice I guess. haha. Or maybe he just wasn't crazy enough. Yet.

I didn't really pay attention to what was happening around me. Too engrossed "singing" into the fan! Oh yeah. I didn't even hear the banging of the door. Then the next thing I knew, someone was saying the door was stuck! Woah. I wasn't worried at all though. "LU BIAN YI GE... RONG SHU XIA!" lol. It didn't really sink in until some people started panicking. Namely Joanne. Haha. Only then did I realise that we really were stuck! The door couldn't open. Apparently Calvin and Joe (on the outside) had tried to open it the wrong way or something, and deformed the latch and the frame of the door! But tried to open it. Couldn't. Oh well. "LU BIAN YI GE.... RONG SHU XIA!"

Joe decided to go get a screwdriver, and then they started trying to unscrew something ( which I later found out was the latch of the door). I dunno... I still didn't feel that worried. Just continued- "LU BIAN YI GE.... RONG SHU XIA!". I guess I didn't understand the gravity of what had happened. It took joanne's (almost) breaking down to make me stop singing. haha. Later we found out that she wasn't gonna cry, just 哭笑不得. So I stopped my singing. And tried to contribute to getting the door open. Tried is the key word man. The whole ordeal took only half and hour though. They got the latch unscrewed in quite a short while (Joe's a lousy, erm unscrew-er). I was getting impatient towards the end. But yeah I just ate, so I wasn't really afraid of dying of hunger. I just didn't wanna go for choir late!

I was the first to go out when they got the door open. Truth be told, the air didn't smell any fresher at all actually. And I wasn't all that glad to be out. No more "LU BIAN YI GE RONG SHU XIA!" Aww. I sang a bit in the stair well while carrying the equipment to LT3 though. haha. Anyway like I said- one helluva experience! And I'm sure we all came out for the better from it. Right? Stress management. Lol.

EDIT: I found the lyrics! Yay now I can sing almost the whole song (dunno the rest of the tune). And it's 路边一棵, not 路边一个. Whoops.

The EPIC trilogy of "The lord of the 61nners!"

The lord of the 61nners: The fellowship within 61

One fine afternoon, under the cornflower blue sky, Joanne Ko had a mission -- Carry the Harmonicas and drum sets to LT3. The damsel in distress needed help, and the fellowship within 61 emerged and shone through, with half of the class agreeing to help Joanne out with her utmostly important mission. Carrying harmonicas and drum sets to LT3 seemed like an easy task, but unbeknownst to the 61nners, the route to LT3 was fraught with danger and peril, which would test the unity of the 61nners.

The lord of the 61nners: The two sides of the door

Well well, the trouble started out with a dear amiable body attempting to play a harmless prank on yiwen. The harmless prank was played by simulating a reversible locking of the door by just holding the door down with one's butt.

Unfortunately, the evil troublemaker Calvin came and decided to break down the door with his powerful hind legs (or forelegs, or whatever). This action permanently deformed BOTH the latch on the door AND the whole door frame. This in turn made it such that the misshapen door frame restricted the closure of the door and the latch restricted the opening of the door. Therefore, the door was placed in a stressed position where the movement of the door was totally restricted. However, the troublemaker's plan to lock the door permanently wasn't foolproof! By locking the rest of the class in, he has trapped himself within with all the asylum inmates!

By a stroke of luck, both Joe and Wangye escaped the dire trap Calvin had set, and was able to work on how to get 61 away from the clutches of Evil Calvin. It was this time that Joe's superhero persona came into play, where he drew upon his inner reserves of strength to wrench the latch off the door with his BARE HANDS!

Alas! The 2.4km run on that morning has sapped away his superhuman strength, and the latch remains as firmly attached to the door as ever!

It was at this time when the li reinforcments arrived (liting and lien). Both Joe and Wangye briefed them immediately about the 61 rescue mission. After which, Lien, with her TAHAN strength, also attempted to wrench the latch away from the door! Will she make it? She huffed, and she puffed, but the TAHAN strength was also not enough to wrech the latch out of the door.

Meanwhile, the situation within the room seemed to be getting more dire every single moment! The drum beats coming out from the claustrophobic room were getting more and more frequent; mad laughter could be heard from the enclosure; and even those in captivity are beginning to lose sense of what is right and what is wrong as one of the (asylum) inmates even stuck out a drumstick as a sign of aggression to their rescuers! It appears that the throes of insanity has crept into the 61 people stuck within the room. It was definitely a race against time to free their souls from captivity!

The newly formed rescue team of four then put their heads together to formulate a new solution to complete the rescue mission. It was then that the screws on the latch that held the latch to the doorframe shone like a light in the darkness to the rescue team, and the solution dawned upon them.

"I'd go get a screwdriver!" Joe used his lightning fast shuttle run skills and reached the Jing Xian library within less than a minute! (AMAZING!) He immediately went up to the counter and asked for a screwdriver, citing an urgent need to rescue comrades within the harmonica room. The helpfulness of the library crew could be seen through the immediate understanding of the urgency of the matter, as the library mistress, after hearing the matter, immediately searched the drawers for a screwdriver. However, it appeared that the screwdriver could not be found in the first two drawers. The last drawer was the only hope; if the screwdriver was not found in that drawer, all hope would be lost. It was a tense moment for the 61 rescue team -- Will the library mistress find the screwdriver?

The Lord of the 61nners: The return of the Joe

Joe, harnessing his lightning fast shuttle run skills, dashed back to the danger zone within half a minute, with the screwdriver, which glowed a magical blue colour. The madness emanating from the harmonica room was exponentially larger than before. He immediately set to work and attempted to unscrew the screws holding the latch to the door with his nimble fingers. It was a challenge, as the screws had to be unscrewed from an angle. It took a few minutes before the first screw was out, and he started to work on the second screw. (Oh man this sounds sick, but I can't think of any synonym for screw, so nvm)

It was then that Lien had a flash of brilliance, and attempted to use her TAHAN strength to wrench the latch from the door again. The removal of the top screw, coupled with the superhuman TAHAN strength, enabled the latch to be removed from the door! (*cues encore*)

And thus, all's well that ends well, and the group finished their mission to carry the harmonica equipment to LT3. yo everyone! i shall blog about the eventful day that happened today! WUHA WUHA! today at around 3.15 pm. under the lead of joanne ko the harmoc enthuist, me lien yiwen wangye liting calvin joe weilong clarence dexin zhexi went to the harmoc room to ban1 instruments. then lien and liting were sent to go LT3 to check if it is avalible. so joanne open the harmoc door and zhexi dexin clarence yiwen me weilong calvin went in happily and excitedly. wow so nice right the guys help us to ban1 instruments.

So Joanne started looking and finding the stuff they need to bring out. nobody cares ahaha pple play drum anyhow qiao1 ah.

Everyone was so excited they didn’t care about Joanne and her harmoc stuff and start using the drum sticks to any how hit around so is like it was so noisy and everyone is not helping Joanne but more of enjoying playing the musical instrument trying out all the weird stuff.

Then suddenly BANG! guo ran bu chu wo sho liao tian xia you calvin and joe zai, zhen me hui you hao shi. [the story began that joe chee locked us in and then calvin go kick the door ]. SO the door catch kena stuck with the door so the door cannot be pushed out and all of us are stuck inside. so funny la!
Commotion starts.
joanne was there panicking "ah! zhen me ban are you sure we are locked in. you all are pushing the wrong way out. The door is supposed to be pushing out not in.”
Joe: “no you see the catch is stuck the door have to be pushed in first!”
Dexin, hx, weilong start kick the door down. Wangye and joe: “stop kicking!! You are making it worst and you will be stuck there forever! we need a screwdriver”
Joanne: “walao who make one huh! hey look at the time now we are going to be late la. and now we are locked inside".
Yiwen keeps laughing cause apparently it is really amusing. nothing can be done from the inside so everyone just waited.
Next lien and liting came back to look for us then saw us stuck inside and keep laughing and laughing non stop apparently our yang zi is like so pathetically lang bei. Cause all of us are sweating inside.
inside the small harmoc pathetic room it was so hot. In the end weilong plug the fan or sth [he is the fan holder correct liao]
Calvin was badly shouted at by Joanne ahah so amusing la! Joanne was like sreaming at him and calvin was like feeling SO guilty. “if I have a knife I will kill you immediately on the spot.”
On the other hand, Clarence and zhexi are SINGING their “LU BIAN YI GE RONG SHU XIA” in that sooper high and buay tahan pitch. Enjoying the nice atmosphere. XING ZHI GAO ANG MAN. Zhexi still say “wah luckily I eat before coming here. Wont starve for hours. =/=

So outside is like joe is sweating madly while using the screwdriver to unscrew the door catch and inside all of us are sweating like madly [playing instruments and listening to “LU BIAN YI GE RONG SHU XIA”] waiting to be out.
While what lien and liting and wangye can do is to laugh at us. But eventually tahan de bu kui shi tahan de lien managed to unscrew it at the end after joe chee passed on to her.

We WERE STUCKED INSIDE THAT STUFFY HARMOC ROOM FOR HALF AN HOUR =/=

Pool: Slicing

Welcome to the 2nd lecture on Pool.
Please settle down and take out your paper to copy these down. These notes will be useful for the coming test.

Slicing.
An important skill in pool which you must acquire. As you play pool, there will be occassions where you are forced to shoot a ball which is adjacent to the centre pocket, but your cue ball is in a awkward position. Let's say I have a cue ball which is 2 cm away from the cushion, and the object ball is next to the hole but also along the same cushion. If I shoot it straight, the object ball will end up hitting the edge of the pocket and move away from the pocket, and you will scratch the cue ball instead. In this case, you have to slice the object ball, allowing the edge of the cue ball to gently touch the edge of the object ball. This will push the object ball into the hole, without scratching your cue ball or hitting the object ball away from the pocket.

When I aim for a slice, I usually imagine a line perpendicular to the direction my cue ball will travel, and where the line coincides indicates the maximum angle you can aim. If the ball needs to travel a substantial amount of distance, you have to use a lot of strength because the amount of KE transferred to the object ball is very little. For me, I hardly use slicing now because it is quite unreliable as there is a chance that the cue ball will totally miss the object ball, and you end up giving a foul to your opponent.

How to play Pool

Yes the name Francis is included, so I shall try to teach those who are clueless about the game some basics (so that you will not lose so badly if we ever get to play on the same table).

Let's start with the bridge.
It is not a game played with cards.
You use your left hand (or less dominant hand) as a bridge, by raising your thumb and first finger slightly, so that there is a saddle for your cuestick to rest on.

And now the grip.
Use your right hand (or dominant hand) to grip the cuestick, preferably at a comfortable position. Hold the cuestick at waist level or any level you are comfortable with. Make sure all fingers are gripping the cuestick, like how you would grip a tennis racket.

Aiming.
Use your dominant eye (in most cases, the right eye if you are right-handed) and place it above the cuestick. Draw an imaginary line from the cue ball to the object ball. Visualize how the object ball will move and adjust the angle accordingly.

Breaking the 8-ball rack.
The cueball can be moved around but cannot go beyond the white line drawn on the table before a break. I recommend shooting from the right side of the table, about 2 cm away from the cushion. Aim for the hole between the 3rd and 4th ball. If you use enough strength, you may get the black ball in (and win! YAY!).

Scratching/Pocketing.
If you scratch/pocket the white ball then it's 'Ball In Hand' for the other player (means he can move it around and place it anyway he/she likes). If you pocket the black ball before you pocket all the balls in your set, it means Game Over for you. If you pocket the black ball in the wrong pocket or the white ball drops in together with the black ball, it also means Game Over for you.

Slicing/Spinning/Jumping/Masse-ing will be covered in the next lecture.

good job 61 for our store yesterday! our profit isn't that much, but taking into consideration the rushed discussion and planning, it is a good reward!

we should all start thinking about jts, since stj yesterday was really well planned by our seniors! THANK YOU 05S61!! we won't let you down! i was thinking of some thai restaurants, but i'm clueless about the price. but then again, that's just me, who is currently craving for cold, sweet thai desserts. :)

Gahmen Mounts Large Defensive Exercise

Following its recent large-scale terrorist attack drill, the Gahmen this week mounted an island-wide defensive exercise, the largest since the last general elections.

This exercise, dubbed “Exercise Total Defensiveness”, involved a simulated detonation of several time bombs implanted in opposition party manifestos, wherein thousands of unsuspecting citizens were devastated, rocking the country to its core.

Upon detonation, the Singapore Civil Service Defensive Farce (SCSDF) immediately swung into action, forming panels and committees to ensure that citizens were shielded from harmful information.

MPs also handed out care packages to those wounded by past economic policies, as well as cash bonuses to NSMen who might be suffering trauma after learning that $5000 and piano lessons could exempt them from national service.

Animal rescue units were also deployed, consisting mainly of running dogs, in honour of this year’s Chinese horoscope.

Impartial observers of the exercise said that citizens should not be unduly alarmed as the detonation of the time bombs was only a simulation, consisting mostly of sound and fury.

However, according to Gahmen spokesman Mr. Gerry Mandhir, “In the interests of maintaining our security, we have to show how fast we can react to attacks on our system and way of life. This exercise has proven how truly reactionary we are.”

Mr. Mandhir also dismissed criticism that Manpowder Minister Ng Eng Cock’s deliberate use of the term ‘time bomb’ to describe the Workers Party Manifesto was exploiting current jitters over terrorism.“We would never compare Mr. Lowsama, I mean, Mr. Low Thia Khiang, to a terrorist,” said Mr. Mandhir.

The next such defensive exercise will be held soon, and is believed to involve the use of defamation suits to protect against the use of polemical weapons.

“To fight against threats to our nation, Singapore needs to be united,” said Mr. Mandhir. “Preferably under a single constituency, say, Marine Parade.”

I know I'm kinda...well, there's no right for me to post anything again. But...well, one last entry please? Thanks.

Well, I just want to thank you all for being so nice to me all this while and sympathetic when the bad news came. It helped because I know you guys care and that Yanting and I do matter in the class. Or rather, it didn't help because the moment my sis opened the door and asked what's wrong, I croaked "I transferred class" and I just started crying. Fine, I admit I want to cry too typing this. But at least we are in the same school and faculty. We can still do lots of things together. I will remember to drop by our, or rather your, class bench and have a chat at times with you people. So do leave a place in your heart for Yanting and I.

1) William Alston - Perceiving God
2) Torrance - Theological science
3) Thomas Senor - The rationality of belief and the plurality of faith (collection of essays, actually)
4) Richard Gale - On the nature and existence of God

How many of you are Calvinists anyway? That is, believing that religious truths (or so to speak) are basic logical pathways, and that religion and God are independent from science.

If I could disprove certain historical events of religious value in the Bible, say the presence of Jesus at the last supper, would it push you to NOT believe in the religion?

Something to think about.
